Lent is meant to be a time of repentance. That’s not a feeling of shame, but an awareness that sin separates us from God and of what it cost Him to be reunited with us. “Shame has its place, but feeling shame over sin is not the same thing as repentance from sin” because “our tempter can take our obedience to God and turn it into a source of pride.”
During Lent, we Christians observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial, and spiritual discipline. The purpose of the Lenten season is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ—to consider his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection.
Just like the past year, we haven't been able to do the tradition which is the raising of "palaspas" in the air on Palm sunday because of the current situation that we are in. Also, people haven't been able to do the Visita Iglesia because the churches were closed and gatherings were not allowed.
Lent is a time to empathize better with those who genuinely go without luxuries or even simple needs. Lent can help establish a stronger sense of one’s need of God minute by minute and to develop a more disciplined, intimate, and authentic prayer life. Also, people should always remember the sacrifices that God did for us, and that He is always there to look after us.
