Philippines is facing really bad
situations right now. One of these is the Covid 19 Pandemic. The Covid 19
pandemic really brought a lot of challenges to our country. Because of the
pandemic, our country have taken strict measures by implementing the Enhanced
Quarantine on March 2020. I can say that the lockdown did help in preventing
the spread of the virus that the number of cases is decreasing. The number of
cases here in Philippines is no longer growing at a very high number, however,
it doesn’t mean that our country have won against the pandemic.
As
the World Health Organization (WHO) says, “Health is a fundamental human
right”. In the current situation, people need assurance that they are safe and
secure and that they have access to the resources they need to keep them that
way. To this end, the messaging on health issues must be explicit, clear and
most importantly, based on hard scientific facts and evidence. Steps must also
be taken to make health more accessible through affordable healthcare and
cheaper medicines. Information campaigns should be designed to educate the
public on how to keep themselves healthy through proper diets and good
lifestyle choices. While efforts have been made to
incentivize the development of alternative energy sources, we are facing
difficulties in ramping them up. One such incentive is the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT)
incentive for renewable energy producers, which is slightly losing traction
with investors due to allowance cuts. Regardless of the ongoing debates on the
cost and benefits of renewable energy, what is clear is that the Philippines
needs to implement policies that would further incentivize the production of
cleaner and cheaper renewable energy in the long run. To generate the
funds needed for inclusive growth, let us support agriculture and industry by
buying Philippine-made products. Buying local means we get to keep money
circulating within our economy and give back to our local producers, motivating
them and giving them the resources to scale up and reinvest in R&D and
technology.
With all what we’ve been through,
do we just have to give up now? We should be responsible citizens for us to
make our country a nice and peaceful place to live to. We should all unite as
one as we fight all the challenges in our country. While fighting this pandemic, we must all
look forward, continue fighting and we should never give up!
